Frequently Asked Questions : Junior Programme

Question
:
What do I need to bring to class for my children?
Answer
:
Is the best to bring along a cap, water and towel and any golf equipment they might already have.
Question
:
Do I need to buy golf clubs?
Answer
:
If they do not have golf clubs and they are about to have their first golfing experience use our clubs first and then allow the coaching staff to advise you on which clubs might be suitable.
Question
:
Do I need to purchase golf shoes?
Answer
:
This is a personal choice, but normally comfortable sports shoes are more than adequate. Like most kids after awhile they will want to be more like a golfer and wear golf shoes like their friends.
Question
:
What will they be learning?
Answer
:
Their initial lessons are basically about the golf swing and putting. Out of the 5 lessons 3 are on the golf swing and 1 is short game and 1 will be either playing on the golf course or a mock golf hole. Each class will have a weekly competition to help them develop competitive skills, concentration and performance under pressure.
Question
:
How long is each class for?
Answer
:
Depending on the weather and class behavior, class should last for 90 minutes, more advanced classes can last up to 2 hours.
Question
:
My child not seem to progressing, what should I do?
Answer
:
All children learn at different speeds. Continue or start extra training or a private lesson, you can also take them to the golf course for a game if they have not been to the course yet. There can be many reasons that progress is slow, poor enthusiasms for the game, parental pressure, under developed sporting skills or academic pressure. They will improve be patient!
Question
:
How long before i can take my child to the golf course?
Answer
:
Sometimes to learn how to swim you to have to dive into the deep end of the pool and swim to the sides any way you can, playing golf is not so different. They have to start sometime. If you leave it to long and they just train all the time they will get bored and lose interest. After they have been introduced to the golf course in class they might want to try again. Find a child friendly course and take them for a hit, 9 holes should be enough. Let them tee off not so far from the green so that if they hit a good shot it will get onto or around green. This success will stimulate them for more golf.
Question
:
Will my child's class change at all?
Answer
:
The programme is structured so that as they improve they can move up a level and train with kids of a similar ability. Sometimes the timing can cause an inconvenience to mum and dad but to make your child into a better golfer it is necessary that they continue to advance. When the junior golfer is ready to move up a level the Junior Coordinator will let the parent know and make the necessary adjustment. Changes are normally done after the completion of each term, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Question
:
What happens when my child misses a class a class due to illness, exams or holidays?
Answer
:
Throughout the year there will be catch up classes during the school holidays that will allow students who have missed classes catch up. Please inform us if your child will be missing a class so we can make the necessary arrangements for them. If you fail to notify us the class may be forfeited.
